We certainly made the most of the holiday period huzzah. Scooted off mid month and made our way to Knysna (via Jozi-George) and planted ourselves there for 10 days, inhaling in the fresh air, exhaling stress, making hay under the sun sunshiny azure sky and swimming in the oh so blue lagoon. Ah.. what a change from hot and humid Singers and more specifically the workplace and the grim atmosphere!
Whilst in Kynsna, we checked out the Birds of Eden (where SFM lost 2 buttons to a parrot) and hung out at Plettenberg Bay when we had the chance (not enough!) We did however manage to make an excursion to Prince Albert and enjoyed the infamous Karoo hospitality at Mai's 19th C built B&B. From there we drove around the magnificent Swartberg Pass and SFM climbed all the way to the very top of the mountain (as he would).
We left the Western Cape for Jozi and then SFM and I hopped on the plane to Tanzania to attend what we both thought was the wedding of year. It was exciting to head to a new location, a new country however it was also very hard as we had to leave Bubba D behind with close mate K (Dar es Salaam is on the high risk malaria alert list). It was the first time ever I had been away from Bubba D for more than 8 hours and I was a w-r-e-c-k. Luckily, Bubba D fared better, having taken a strong liking to K, her toddler J and his toys (especially his truck!)
We were glad we were able to make it to the wedding as the bride and groom were special friends and we felt we could not let them down (SFM had also agreed to be the MC before we found out the malaria situation).
Bare foot on the beach alongside friends who came from all around the world we witnessed the Tanzanian Official marry the Zimbo groom to the beautiful Russian bride. Talk about the globalisation (and carbon footprints eeks).
Anyhow, If I havent said enough times before am saying it again now - I simply love weddings!

Sadly, we werent able to stay till the end of the party for we had a plane to catch and a bubba to cuddle- back to Jozi to pick up Bubba D and usher the New Year.
That we did - with Strictly Come Dancing (dodgy SA version) on the telly and sound of fireworks in the background, Bubba D, SFM, Ma SF and I got into a group hug and wished each all sorts of things for 2009.
ps: Azuredec, MS, Sof and famile - we hope you got our kisses, hugs, best wishes and other messages sent via the wind (we would have emailed/text but the signals were patchy and we hardly had any access to the internet all the time we were traveling).
